SPRING WOUND CARE MEETINGS

Events, Strategic Solutions, Inc. Updates

The past few months have seen a lot of presentations made by myself at the big wound care meetings this spring, including APWCA held in Orlando last April and SAWC, held in Denver at the beginning of May. At APWCA I made 5 presentations—what were called mini Cochrane reviews—which were a great hit. I also received an award: MAPWCA, which entitles me to be called Master, for services to the wound care community. I’m glad I wasn’t called mistress!

Our poster presentation entitled “Cost Effectiveness of Adjunct Therapies with Cellular or Tissue-Derived Products in the Management of Chronic Venous Leg Ulcers,” in conjunction with our colleagues at Healthpoint Biotherapeutics also won third prize. This poster was also shown at SAWC, along with two others relating to frequency of debridement of wounds (with our colleagues at Healogics) and on clinical trial design (with our colleagues at Intellicure and Cytomedix).

SAWC was incredibly hectic and Nic and I had no time to visit any sessions because of constant meetings, although Kris got to see many of the sessions. The Denver Convention Center was massive and required a lot of walking, which wasn’t helpful to Nic or myself. However, the convention was a major success for us, and many projects in SSI’s current portfolio were either furthered or born there.

As I write this, I am getting ready for another health economics meeting in London, which will be the first of 3 trips to Europe this summer.

I would like to thank all of our clients for the wonderful opportunities you have given us and if you’re not a client yet we look forward to meeting you perhaps in the near future.
